National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators Meet with Arizona Immigrant Rights Organizations July 2nd – 4th

Phoenix /Tucson, AZ -- National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL) President Assemblyman Felix Ortiz (NY), Senator Efrain Gonzalez (NY) and Assemblyman Jose Rivera (NY) will meet with Immigrant Rights Organizations in Phoenix and the boarder region starting Sunday, July 2nd. The State Legislators will convene with the local groups to discuss and see first hand the impact of the recent immigration bills passed in the State of Arizona and by the US Congress. The State Legislators also plan to make a site visit to the Border Region.

“The immigration debate is not over. The recent immigration bills still do not address the real problem and therefore do not provide sufficient resolutions that respect the immigrant population,” said Assemblyman Ortiz. “This visit to Arizona with my colleagues is important because the rights of a population are being disregarded through unfair tactics that have the potential to break up families and impact the contributions that immigrants make to the US economy.”

State Legislators will meet with Unidos en Arizona and The Human Rights Coalition/Indigenous Alliance Without Borders, among other groups.
