NHCSL PRESIDENT HONORED WITH EXTRAORDINARY WOMAN AWARD BY PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND LEADERS

Washington, D.C. (Mar 8th) – The National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL) applauds President Iris Y. Martinez (IL.) on her receipt of the 2010 Extraordinary Woman Award by Providence, Rhode Island leaders at their annual “International Woman’s Day” Monday, March 8th.

”Providence, Rhode Island features Latina leaders who fight for their communities. We are inspired by, and happy to have Senator Martinez join us in our celebration of mujeres,” said Sandra Lake, organizer of the Providence International Woman’s Day event.

“Senator Martinez represents the best of Latina leaders in the country – she is a tireless advocate for her state and serves as a national voice for state legislators,” said Elizabeth Burgos, NHCSL Executive Director.

The Extraordinary Woman Award coincides with International Women’s Day and Women’s history month.
